Ten students from the Corps of Cadets traveled to Northfield, Vermont to attend the Northern New England Cadet Leadership Challenge 17-21 June. The cadets met with cadets from eight other schools from Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont at Wilson Hall at Norwich University. Cadets participated in various activities and many leadership training opportunities throughout their stay. The cadets conducted land navigation, the high ropes challenge course at Northern Lights Rock and Ice in Essex, Vermont; knot tying, canoeing and kayaking on the Winooski River, a map reading course, and a first aid course. Particularly challenging was the Leadership Reaction Course. Groups of seven cadets participated in overcoming the different obstacles and rotating through leadership positions. During the reaction course the squad leader’s leadership skills were tested. The five days were fun and rewarding to all the cadets who participated. Comments are closed.
