The North Country Union High School Junior ROTC Falcons participated in Green Mountain Challenge JCLC 2016 with three other New Engalnd schools. The first day we hiked Mt Mansfield greeted at the peak with 25 mph winds and fog. The rest of the week we enjoyed perfect weather and conducted rappelling and rock climbing training, land navigation training and leadership reaction team building at Camp Ethan Allen. We capped the week off with kayaking on the Lamoille River.
The North Country Falcon Battalion bids a fond farewell to the graduating seniors from the class of 2016 who were instrumental in achieving excellence during this year's Joint Program Accreditation. These leaders have contributed so much to the JROTC program, the North Country Union High School and to their community.
The North Country Union High School Falcon Battalion marched in the annual Memorial Day parade and participated in the memorial ceremony in Gardner Park. The Falcon Battalion provided two color guards and Scott Tinker, the battalion commander gave a speech on the 100th anniversary of ROTC
The Falcon Battalion provided a flag detail to the Bel Aire senior resident home on Memorial Day as a way to help those who could not attend Memorial Day services remember those who gave everything in defense of freedom.
Eleven members of the North Country Union High School Raider Team departed in the early hours of 7 May for a day-long contest of knowledge, fitness, endurance, and teamwork. The team placed secondin physical fitness, general knowledge and land navigation and third place overall. Great job Raider Team!
The NCUHS Falcon Battalion held its 18th annual Dining-In and also celebrated the 100th anniversary of the foundation of ROTC with a cake cutting ceremony. As per tradition, the Corps enjoyed a feast of their families' favorite dishes. We thank the parents who gave their time to help make this social event a success. This saber, as pictured above, was carried by Colonel Wooster as a cadet officer at Norwich University, the home of ROTC.
On May 19th through the 21st the 8th graders from multiple sending schools arrived at North Country Union High School to get a sense of what a high school day is like. Along with this, they visited several Career Center classes and the JROTC program. A few cadets from each platoon talked about our mission as a battalion, showed them several rope knots, and played a game of Ultimate Ninja. The 8th graders were also told about the different groups in JROTC, like Raiders, Drill, and Marksmanship. After, the 8th graders went to sign up for their classes.
The North Country Union Falcon Battalion conducted its promotion and awards ceremony on February 11th, recognizing cadets during the 1st semester.
